We have fresh bunker, live sand fleas, green crabs, bloodworms, live surf clams live minnows and much more.

There’s a lot to report this week so we’ll get right to it.

FISHING REPORT

>> The Annual Old Inlet Spring Surf Fishing tournament will take place on Saturday, May 11. We have stocked up on live surf clams, bunker and bloodworms. If you are passing Coastal Plaza, Coastal Highway, stop by Bill's Sport Shop and get your bait!!

>> CJ, of Striper King Gear, caught a 35>“ striper at Lewes Beach on bunker .

>> Keith Tolley writes: "https://www.facebook.com/keith.tolley.5" - First offshore trip of the year was a bust. Dogfish ruled when I could keep a bait on the bottom. Up to 5 lb. of lead just trying to keep bait in the zone. Wind was horrible and I just could not get comfortable. Better luck next time and I think I had better eat my wheaties.”

>> Chuck Nagle of Bill's Sport Shop caught a 20”, 3# flounder at Massey's Landing on bucktail and pink Gulp!

>> Matt Bomberger of Downingtown, Pa.nailed a 26.1#, 41.5” linesider at 3R's Rd. on bunker.

>> Paul, from Bill's Sport Shop, pulled a 20" flounder over the rails at Massey's Landing on his first cast using Gulp! On another trip, Paul managed to catch 3 flounder to 20” and 4 blue fish also in the 20” range using bucktail and Gulp. Paul says: “When the nats are biting so are the fish . Don't forget the bug spray“!.

>> Dennis Mussari, Lewes, DE., caught this 18.5”, 2.5# flounder at Lewes pier on Gulp.

>> Barry Hall, Blacksburg, VA., caught a 38”, 19.2# striper on bunker at Broadkill Beach. >>Lance Cochran, Milton, nailed a 38”, 21.65# striper on bunker at Herring Point.

>> Steve Hall, Bristow, Va., caught a 13.1#, 35” striper at 3R's Rd. on bunker. He also caught a 12” croaker the day before on bloodworms at The Naval Crossing! Wow!!! LIKE US ON FACEBOOK FOR REPORTS AND PHOTOS OF STEVE’S CATCH

>> Roger Aeo, Laurel, Md, caught 2 flounder up to 21” at the Pier on Gulp.

>> Tim Han, Fairfax, Va, caught 2 flounder up to 20” at the Pier on Gulp.

>> Keeper size tog are now being reported at Massey's Landing.

>> Nicholas Dadgostar, Felton, was fishing at Herring Point and caught a 39”, 20.70# striper on fresh bunker from BSS.

>> George Wilder and Mike Jordan made their way out to the wall last Wed and got a limit of tog on green crabs up to 20”. They decided to stay and use up the bait since they would not be getting out again for a while and caught and released another 30 fish.

>> This report comes from Old Inlet Bait and Tackle: “Mike Vernarchick, Lehighton PA, weighed a 19# striper taken from the Inlet on Cinco De Mayo. Nice fish!! It hit a bucktail“

>> Tim Sullivan, Wilmington, fished at Gordon’s Pond and caught (4 total) blow fish in the suds along with numerous short stripers on clam.

>> Gage Taylor, Dover, and Dennis Massari, Newark, caught flounder weighing 1.8 and 3.6# up to 22.5“ on Gulp at the pier in CHSP.

>> Jack Daughtly, Baltimore MD, stopped in and said he caught over 30 tog. One was 23”. He was kayaking in the DE Bay using green crabs.

>> Bob Nguyen writes: “Thank you for leaving the bait out for me...2 flounder 18” and 4 blues. There was another guy there with his son, they caught 5 keeper flounder...biggest was 22”...Was at the pier at Cape Henlopen.”

>> The Friends of Cape Henlopen Youth Fishing Tournament will be held Sat., May 18 for ages 15 and under at the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park. Bring your rods and reels or rent them from the Bait and Tackle Shop. Entrance fee is $10.00. The first fifty young anglers will receive a free T shirt. Prizes will be awarded.

DOVER (May 7, 2013) – Do you know a child or young teen who might enjoy learning about fishing and trying their hand as an angler? The Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Take a Kid Fishing! program invites budding anglers age 6 through 15 and a parent/guardian to come out and cast a line on three upcoming dates.

Take a Kid Fishing will be held on the following upcoming dates, with all fishing equipment provided:

· 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 18 – Abbotts Mill Nature Center, Milford,

· 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 15 – Father's Day Fishing at Wilmington State Parks (Brandywine Park)*, · 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, July 13 – Judge Morris Estate, White Clay Creek State Park,* Newark, 75.776561"

* While participation in Take a Kid Fishing is free of charge, entrance fees are in effect at Delaware State Parks host sites: for each vehicle, the cost is $3 with Delaware tags and $6 with out-of-state tags. Free admission passes will be available at the gate for pre-registered Take a Kid Fishing participants.

Driving on the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park

LEWES (May 3 2013) – Cape Henlopen State Park will host Driving on the Beach workshops on Saturdays, May 11 and June 15, and Sundays, May 19 and June 2. Join park rangers and surf fishing experts to learn the rules and regulations, and get tips on safe driving, how to avoid getting stuck, and how to get unstuck.

Each program meets at the Seaside Nature Center at 9:30 a.m. for an indoor presentation. Depending on the weather, the group may go for a drive on the beach, so please bring your safe driving equipment (a low-pressure tire gauge, tow rope or chain, board, jack, and shovel). The fee is $5 per person.

Saturday June 1st is the date for the Bassmasters annual youth Fishing tournament for kids ages 0 up to 15yrs. (rain date June 2nd) to kicked off at the Municipal park in Milton De, andd then at the Prime Hok Natiional wildlife refuge in the upper Broadkill river.

It's all free for the kids and everything is provided including hot dogs , soda etc. Train rides and fishing from the banks and from boats provided by club members.

Last year we had 110 participants, youth must have parent or guardian with and fish are checked by measurement.

Fort Delaware State Park Opens May 4

DELAWARE CITY (May 2, 2013) – Fort Delaware State Park once again opens its doors to the public on Saturday, May 4. The fort will be open Saturdays in May, weekends and holidays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, and Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from June 12 through Labor Day. Daily schedules are available at the park office or by calling 302-834-7941.

>> Sea Bass will open May 19th for the remainder of 2013 and it will be 12 1/2” and 20 per angler per day.

>> Tautog is now open until May 11 with a creel limit of 3

per day at 15”.

>> Flounder is currently 18”, 4 per day

>> Striper is 28”, 2 per day

>> Striper King Gear and Bill's Sport Shop have teamed up to create Delaware's first "50 lb Club"! During the months of March, April and May catch the FIRST 50 lb plus striper, weigh it in at Bill's Sport Shop, and win a $250.00 cash prize and an "SKG 50 lb Club" soft shell jacket worth $150.00!
