Bill’s Sport/Irish Eyes Striper Tournament

We have teamed up with Short's Marine to award the angler in Bill's Sport Shop/Irish Eyes Striper Tournament, a 2013, 19’ Carolina Skiff with an Etec engine and trailer. The angler who catches a striped bass 5 lbs. greater than the state record at that time will be awarded the boat.
The top female angler in the tournament will receive a gold chain with a gold striper pendent with a sapphire eye from Holland Jewelers, valued at $1500.00, and a ½ day charter from Captain Brian Wazlavek, aboard the ‘Lil Angler II’.

The 2013 Striper Tournament will run from October 18 till December 6. - Entry forms available at Bill's Sport Shop, Irish Eyes and at the door every Friday up to 11/1.

- $85.00 entry fee per angler, includes tee shirt and buffet for angler only.

>> Bill Jr and Ellen were fishing IRI and caught 9 flounder using Gulp, spec rigs, and bucktails. The largest was 18” and fat. Congratulations on a great day fishin!
>> Ron Capone, Milford, and James Bolton of DAFB caught 6 drum up to 24” at Massey's on clams.
>> On another trip, Ron Capone (AKA The Drum King) along with Chester Scott former Boxer, gave em a one, two, knockout punch today at Masseys Landing with 2 more drum to 24” and a dinner sized croaker.
>> Wayne Moore, New Castle, caught a 23” drum at Masseys Landing on clam.
>> Carl Koehn, West Lawn, Pa, pulled a 5.79#, 22” black drum over the rail at Massey's Landing using clams.
>> Camron Stengel, 13 years old, Ocean View, DE.caught a 19”, 3.85# large mouth bass in a local pond using minnows for bait.

>> Fishing Report by Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, OC, for our friends below the IRI: “Water Temp, 72. Fishing this week wasn't bad on flounder. Saw some keepers and lots of throw backs. Bluefish in the surf, along with croaker and spot. A few kingfish were still around. So were some good sized sand bar and dusky sharks. Eating size spot are in the bay along with some croakers in the inlet. Puppy drum are hitting in the Inlet and some around the Rt. 50 Bridge pilings. Also some in the Route 54 gut in Delaware. Offshore the flounder are biting, and further offshore the tuna, marlin, and dolphin!”

Online registration open now for 2013 Delaware Coastal Cleanup volunteers
DOVER (Aug. 8, 2013) – Online volunteer registration is now open for the 27th annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup, to be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 21. Sponsored by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the cleanup spans the First State’s 97-mile eastern coastline and includes river and ocean shorelines as well as wetland and watershed areas. This year, nearly 50 sites in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties are targeted. At last year’s Coastal Cleanup, 1,400 dedicated volunteers from civic organizations, youth groups, businesses and families collected 7.8 tons of trash from more than 40 sites along Delaware’s shorelines and tributaries.
