Bill’s Sport Shop/Irish Eyes Striper Tournament

We have teamed up with Short's Marine to award the angler in Bill's Sport Shop/Irish Eyes Striper Tournament, a 2013, 19’ Carolina Skiff with an Etec engine and trailer. The angler who catches a striped bass 5# greater than the state record at that time will be awarded the boat.

The top female angler in the tournament will receive a gold chain with a gold striper pendent with a sapphire eye from Holland Jewelers, valued at $1500.00, and a ½ day charter from Captain Brian Wazlavek, aboard the ‘Lil Angler II’.

The tournament will run from October 18 till December 6. - Entry forms available at Bill's Sport Shop, Irish Eyes and at the door every Friday up to 11/1.

- Open to all.

- $85.00 entry fee per angler, includes tee shirt and buffet for angler only.

- $25.00 fee for a guest with angler at the buffet. 1 guest per angler. Additional guests can order from menu.

Millman's Appliance is giving a 5 cu ft chest freezer. Portraits in the Sand is giving a $300.00 gift certificate for our Wild Card prizes.


>> Joe Marsiglia, Lewes, caught 2 flounder measuring 19.5” and 20.5” at B Buoy on 6” Gulp and 3 oz bucktails.

>> Bill Jr. of BSS called and said he caught a 23” puppy drum at Masseys on clam.

>> Kim Barrowclough, Long Neck, caught a 19.5" black drum at Massey's on fresh clam.

>> Brian Smith, Dover, caught a 21” speckled trout and a 24”, 5.3# red drum on a popper in the Broadkill.

>> ’Fish Whisperer Charters’ wrote: “Dave Harmon… with today's big fish. 25.5” !!! The guys caught 24 flounder putting 4 in the box including 7 keeper seabass , 1 trout and some blues!!...Fish on !!”

>> A certain radio personality went to her secret spot with her husband Paul (on their 23rd wedding anniversary) and caught 5 keeper flounder on Sat. They then went back out again on Sunday and Paul caught 2 at 20 and 24”. Judy caught 2 at 18 and 19” along with 2 sea bass at 15”. Nice way to spend your anniversary! And by the way....Thanks for the crabs, Judy, they were great!!!!

>> Chuck Nagle from Bill's Sport Shop reported that on Friday he caught 3 small sheepshead and 2 nice bluefish at18-19" at Massey Landing.

>> Dan Langdon, Matt Langdon, Brad, RK and Fick fished on the ‘O’fishal’ for Brad’s bachelor party out of Dewey Beach. Ran to the Washington Canyon, fished around 200 fathoms, found a log floating and landed about 10 mahi. Around 2pm the tuna bite turned on and the crew went 5 for 7 on yellowfin in the 30# class chunking and using light leader. Brad also landed his first tuna on a butterfly jig, light tackle. Great day.

>> Fishing Report by Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, OC. “Water temp” 70.9 - Bluefish in the surf along with the first puppy drum! Flounder are still biting though it's hard to find the keepers in the bay. Offshore, the flounder bite is still strong. Big spot at the 2nd through 4th Street Bulkhead! Tautog are just starting to bite. A good striper bite happened on Saturday night in Ocean City. Sea trout were biting on the Oceanic Pier. Lots of tuna at the Washington Canyon this weekend.”
