Surf Fishing Seminar
Saturday, March, 8, Striper King Gear and Bill's Sport Shop will be hosting the first of many seminars. Surf Fishing 101 will be held at Bill's at 11 am to 1 pm and admission is $10.00 per person, children under 16 are free. Light refreshments will be served. Come out and have some fun!
Annual Flea Market
As always, our annual flea market, April 5, very early in the morning, is free. We ask that you use only one space and bring your own table or use the back of your pickup truck.
Our neighbors said they don’t mind if you use their parking lot at that hour of the morning.
This year we are having lots of sales in honor of our 20th Anniversary. As a matter of fact, the flea market specials will be available for Sunday as well.
Everyone has our phrase memorized “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, so start organizing your unwanted items.
So far, we have the following Manufacturers reps attending: Travis Light from Tica and Danielson; Patrick Latham from Shimano, Aftco and Power Pro; Mike Hansen from AquaClear; Ben Feezer from Eagle Claw.
Outside vendors are Striper King Gear, Over the Waves Sand Sticks, Delaware Paddlesports, Lil Angler II Charters, Fish Whisperer Charters Delaware Fisherwoman and Nautical Art by Ellie.
Military Appreciation Day, Delaware Chapter
The response has been overwhelming on making Oct. 11 a great day for the active Military members.
At this point in time we have 26 vessels that will accommodate up to 60 Troops along with 15 kayaks (Delaware Paddlesports). Our goal is to take 100 troops out on the water for a day of fishing. Still in need of at least 20 more vessels! You do not have to be a licensed Captain.
Our food committee is beginning to take shape. CJ Jarrell (Striper King Gear) is developing the menu, which looks to be awesome. There are a couple of professional BBQ Chefs that have volunteered their expertise and equipment, but we are still in need of set up and clean up crews, along with servers.
Judy Mangini is arranging for a band for the entertainment.
If you would like to volunteer your time, effort or vessel, please contact me at 302-645-7654, and I will "Hook" you up!
We are also looking for fish cleaners. We will need volunteers to assist in our fund raising efforts. If you want more info, please visit www.militaryappreciationday.org, or like Bill's Sport Shop or Military Appreciation Day, Delaware Chapter on FaceBook.
We will need more food items, salads, desserts, etc… and paper goods.
We need donations for door prizes.
Thanks, Bill Jr.
>> Just got an actual report of white perch being caught at Fowler's Beach area!
>> Be sure to get your fishing license and fin number to avoid the wait.
>> Visit our facebook page for the dates of the Safe Boating Course.
>> Sea Bass Regs are open 5/19 to 9/18 and 10/18 to 12/31 15 fish at 12.5 inches.
>> The 2014 Fresh Water Trout Season in Tidbury (Kent County) and Newton (Sussex County) Ponds is open.
>> Spoke with Lt. Doug Messig of DNREC F&W enforcement and was able to get clarification on some issues:
1) Fishing without a F.I.N. number is the same as fishing with no license. The fine is $50.00 plus court costs of $56.00 for $106.00.
This is to the individual, not the boat Captain. It is the individual's responsibility, not the boat owner.
2) The surf fishing permit is ONLY valid for the operator of the vehicle, and no one else. I was always under the impression that it was the driver of the vehicle. Enforcement will ask for the yellow copy that is to be kept with your vehicle and check against the driver's license.
