Subjects that have been featured include: Charter boat Captains discussing their fishing trips, Girls of DE Fisherwomen (DFW),
replacing line and checking gear, types of line, offshore wrecks with Captain Bill, Delaware Paddlesports, Chris Barton and Over The Waves.
The next show is today. The boys will be discussing striper and flounder fishing and will be posted tonight at 7 PM on Facebook. Go to www.billssportshop.com and click on facebook.
Future plans include Kristin Fisher, Charter Boat Captain and Bob Adams from the Coast Guard Auxiliary. When the weather gets better, they will be taking the show on the water.
>> April 12th, on our parking lot, we will have a US Coast Guard Auxiliary Commander. He will inspect your boat and give you an inspection sticker. Bill’s Sport Shop will have everything you need to purchase to pass this inspection. No need to leave and worry about not getting your sticker that day.
>> A special thanks to Morty Morton, Pres., DMS and C J Jarrell of Striper King Gear for hosting a great event last Saturday, here at Bill’s Sport Shop. Surf Fishing 101 was a huge success. Thanks guys—Let’s do it again!!!
Annual Flea Market
As always, our annual flea market, April 5, very early in the morning, is free. We ask that you use only one space and bring your own table or use the back of your pickup truck. This year we are having lots of sales in honor of our 20th Anniversary. As a matter of fact, the flea market specials will be available for Sunday as well.
Military Appreciation Day, Delaware Chapter
Our goal is to take 100 troops out on the water for a day of fishing. Still in need of at least 20 more vessels! You do not have to be a licensed Captain.
CJ Jarrell (Striper King Gear) is developing the menu, which looks to be awesome. There are a couple of professional BBQ Chefs that have volunteered their expertise and equipment, but we are still in need of set up and clean up crews, along with servers. Judy Mangini is arranging for a band for the entertainment. If you would like to volunteer your time, effort or vessel, please contact me at 302-645-7654, and I will "Hook" you up! We are also looking for fish cleaners. We will need volunteers to assist in our fund raising efforts. If you want more info, please visit www.militaryappreciationday.org, or like Bill's Sport Shop or Military Appreciation Day, Delaware Chapter on FaceBook.
We will need more food items, salads, desserts, etc… and paper goods. We need donations for door prizes. Thanks, Bill Jr.
>> White perch are reported biting at Petersfield Ditch. Blood worms and grass shrimp are the best baits to use.

Delawareans can help keep state cleaner
through new TrashStoppers reporting app
DOVER (March 10, 2014) – Delawareans and frequent visitors to the First State can now report illegal dumping activities directly to state environmental officials using their smartphones. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has launched a new TrashStoppers app for Android, iPhone, and Windows phones. The app was developed for DNREC by Delaware Interactive, LLC (DI) as part of the state’s ongoing eGovernment initiative.
The DNREC TrashStoppers app lets users provide tips to DNREC on illegal dumping of trash, tires, construction debris and other environmentally hazardous materials. Users can submit location information, descriptions of dumping they’ve seen and the people doing the dumping, motor vehicle information and photographs of the scene. Users can also make anonymous submissions if they wish. All illegal waste dumping tips are passed directly to the DNREC team for assessment
---Hiker ends 6,800 mile journey at Cape Henlopen State Park in support of the Envirothon
Public invited to welcoming event 3 p.m. Sat., March 15
LEWES (March 10, 2014) – The Delaware Envirothon Planning Committee invites the public to an event welcoming Josh Seehorn, vice chair of the Georgia Envirothon, as he finishes his 6,800 mile hike across the American Discovery Trail – a journey Josh began last March to raise support and awareness for the North American Envirothon. The celebration will be held Saturday, March 15 at 3 p.m.at the Atlantic Ocean trailhead of the American Discovery Trail at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. Delaware envirothon educators, students and the public will meet and welcome Josh at the picnic pavilion, located just past the Seaside Nature Center at the end of Cape Henlopen Drive.
Josh began his journey in California in March 2013 at Point Reyes National Seashore and has hiked and run the American Discovery Trail, a merger of trails in cities, small towns, forests, deserts, and mountains. Along the way, Josh has camped out in his surroundings and also relied on the generosity of friends and strangers to feed and house him during his journey to Delaware. Last August, Josh took a detour from his route to attend the North American Envirothon competition in Bozeman, Montana where the Delaware team from the Charter School of Wilmington posed for a picture with Josh.

>> The 2014 Fresh Water Trout Season in Tidbury (Kent County) and Newton (Sussex County) Ponds is open. Another stocking is due this week.
>> Spoke with Lt. Doug Messig of DNREC F&W enforcement and was able to get clarification on some issues:
1) Fishing without a F.I.N. number is the same as fishing with no license. The fine is $50.00 plus court costs of $56.00 for $106.00.
This is to the individual, not the boat Captain. It is the individual's responsibility, not the boat owner.
2) The surf fishing permit is ONLY valid for the operator of the vehicle, and no one else. Enforcement will ask for the yellow copy that is to be kept with your vehicle and check against the driver's license.
