The committee for Military Appreciation Day, informs me that we are still in need of volunteers with boats to take active military members for a day of fishing, Oct., 11. Other committees also could use some help. Parking, greeting, setting up for the BBQ, cook, serve, clean fish and clean up.
We will need desserts and other donations. Please call Bill, Jr. at 645 7654.
>> Blues are hitting on just about all beaches right now. They are in the 10 to 18” range, and are chomping on cut bait and in close! Three R's has been the hottest, but we are getting reports from all areas!
>> Father Jim Downs from Mary Mother of Peace Parish, his friend, Lamar Scotch, and our own, Captain Bill aboard the “Slicker 111”, fished Site 10 catching croaker after croaker until our arms were tired. We decided to fish for flounder at B buoy and there we caught blues, sea bass and flounder. Clams, silver sides and squid did the trick for a very enjoyable day.
>> Jeremy Gamble, 11 years old, Doylestown, PA, caught a 16.5”, 1.5# flounder in Rehoboth Bay using Gulp.
>> Rodney Jones of “Fish Whisperer Charters” was fishing the Canyons with Jim Gola and Steve Williamson, and caught 2 white marlin, numerous dolphin and a small blackfin tuna.
>> Joe the postman, limited out on flounder on the “Thelma Dale”.
>> One of our customers stopped back in to stock up on 6” Gulp and mentioned he had a banner day fishing on Site 10.
>> Bob Teichert and company went out to the "Old Grounds" yesterday. They had a good day, coming back with 5 flounder, 16 1/2 to 25" and one sea bass 15 1/2".
>> Chris Gallaway, Bear, DE, pulled a nice one with a 7#, 21.5” sheeps head, using sand fleas, on the south side of the IRI off the rocks.
>> Customer reported catching 26 keeper crabs from the Love Creek Bridge.
>> ”Bill, Yesterday the Lewes Yacht Club had their annual Kids Fishing Tournament. Lewes Beach was very windy but about 20 kids still showed up. My daughter, Beth Krajewski, won first place with an 11.5" croaker. Ron”
>> Aarron - “I went fishing for a few hours off the docks at Massey's Landing late morning. In the time I was there, 3 fish were caught, all keeper flounder. Two were caught on squid, and one on Gulp.”
>> Matt Schuler – “I was out at Massey’s right at dusk…and came home with a nice 21.5" flounder hit on your fav GULP!”
>> Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, OC, sends us her report for those fishing further south: “Water Temp: 74.1. Fishing this week was still really good offshore on flounder. It's harder to catch keepers in the bay, but anglers are picking them up. Anglers are seeing finger mullet, shiners, and peanut bunker in the bays, meaning fish are right behind them. Still some croaker around the Route 90 Bridge. Striper fishing picked up on the Route 50 Bridge at night. Snapper blues in the surf along with sharks and still some small stuff like spot, kingfish, and croaker.”
>> Military Appreciation Day, Oct., 11.
>> Bill’s Sport Shop Striper Tournament Oct., 17 to Dec., 5. Fri. night Social at Irish Eyes.
>> Tog closes August 31
>> Striped bass slot season closes August 31.
