>> Registration for troops for Military Appreciation Day will reopen tonight at 6 PM and close for good on Wed., at midnight. We will continue to accept donations right through the event on Sat. The event will take place rain or shine.
>> Dave Walker just set a new State record with his catch of a 17.1# sheepshead as reported by Lewes Harbour Marina and verified by DNREC. Way to go Dave!
>> Lewes Harbour Marina is reporting catches of tog, trigger, trout, black drum (to 25#) and sheepshead!
>> Customer came in and told us he was on the "Thelma Dale" and caught a pool winning 5.1# trigger!
>> A customer reported that his father was fishing IRI last night with eels and had 5 striper between 22 and 26" and 1 keeper at 29".
>> Crabs are still in abundance in Herring Creek. Customer reported 5 doz per day, and big enough not to have to measure.
>> Reports of red drum in Massey's Landing.
>> Customer called wondering about citation size on trigger fish. He caught a 21" trigger. There is no citation size on trigger.
>> There are reports of keeper flounder still being caught at Massey's Landing, along with red drum.
>> The surf is still producing snapper blues.
>> Fishing Report by Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, OC: "Water temp is 68. Northeast wind made surf fishing difficult first part of the weekend.
Fishing the Ocean City surf Tournament was hard! Seas calmed down on Saturday afternoon and anglers caught snapper blues, small drum, kingfish, and flounder. Some big drum were caught and released on Assateague. The flounder bite in the bay was still on this week! Tautog are starting to bite."
>> With cooler fall temperatures arriving, there’s still time to take advantage of the fine fishing weather to take that great photo and enter it in DNREC’s Division of Fish and Wildlife 2014 Delaware Fishing Photo Contest. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, Oct. 15. The winning photo will be featured on the cover or inside of the 2015 Delaware Fishing Guide to be published early next year.
>> The recreational black sea bass season will reopen Saturday, Oct. 18, and remain open until the end of the year.
