FISHING REPORT

>> Fishing Report by Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle,OC: "Water Temp is 67.3. Surf fishing was still a tad rough this week, but anglers still caught fish. The flounder bite was still on in the bay. Tautog are showing up. Some legal stripers were caught including a 50 1/2 incher caught from the Oceanic Pier! Offshore, some flounder are still about though the weather was not on our side for getting out.

I just wanted to extend my congratulations to you & the various folks that made the fishing venue available to our Vets. As an "old" Vet I'm so glad our guys & gals are treated with the respect they deserve. So much different than my return in the 60's. I'm sure your efforts were appreciated by all who attended. Thanks again.

Capt Don Verrico took Major Sean Casey...he was a Silver Star honoree and I had to hold his fish...LOL...great guy, great day, great idea...but I'm still nursing sore muscles from the rough water.

Jacklyn Walker caught this 16 and a half inch tog from the rocks at display.

Jimbo Walker caught this nice blue on the surf at dssp

The weather wasn't great but the fish were biting. We still had a great time.

Yesterday was a blast..... Though Mother Nature was not cooperating we did get out to site 11 and caught some nice Seabass.... Alas the season is closed till the 18th but the catching was fun.....we had several hard rains and by 11 o'clock everybody had had enough! I want to thank Hector Reyes of Mad and William Baker of Bills Sport Shop for giving us the opportunity to do this!

FYI

After the early season closes, the recreational black sea bass season will reopen Saturday, Oct. 18, and remain open until the end of the year.

For more information on the black sea bass season extension, visit Fisheries News, or call the Fisheries Section at 302-739-9914.

With cooler fall temperatures arriving, there’s still time to take advantage of the fine fishing weather to take that great photo and enter it in DNREC’s Division of Fish and Wildlife 2014 Delaware Fishing Photo Contest. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, Oct. 15. The winning photo will be featured on the cover or inside of the 2015 Delaware Fishing Guide to be published early next year.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED…..I would like to take this time to THANK everyone who supported and participated in our MAD Delaware Inaugural Event…As per Mad history and tradition this MAD 1 event followed all others, as our volunteer boats and 76 Heroes where greeted by pouring rain and howling winds, but the Big mission of the day was to “overcome and adapt”, as our volunteer Captains were once again on hand to fortify and uphold our mission of…..One, Simple THANKS!

THANK YOU Volunteers, Captains, Supporters and Heroes for Making MAD 1 Lewes, Delaware a Great Success.
