>> A very important meeting will be held tomorrow night (Wednesday). All are encouraged to attend. Could this be the beginning of MPA’s? Research the states where marine protected areas have been implemented, so you know what is involved.

Public listening session on Draft Mid-Atlantic Regional Ocean Planning set for November 5 in Lewes

Public invited to provide input

– The Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body invites the public to provide input on regional ocean planning by participating in a listening session.

In 2010, a Presidential Executive Order established a National Ocean Policy to guide the protection, maintenance, and restoration of America's oceans and coasts

They seek robust input and comments on a variety of options for the Ocean Action Plan, information on engaging stakeholders, and the current status of a regional ocean assessment.

In April 2013, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council on the Ocean (MARCO) hosted the Mid-Atlantic Regional Ocean Planning Workshop in collaboration with federal partners to help launch regional ocean planning

Delaware’s representatives will host the public listening session from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 5 at the University of Delaware’s Virden Retreat Center at 700 Pilottown Road, Lewes

>> ASMFC Atlantic Striped Bass Board Approves Addendum IV for Implementation

The coastal recreational fishery harvest will be reduced by implementing a one fish bag limit while keeping a 28” size limit. Under Amendment 6, states may use conservation equivalency to develop state-specific measures that are different than a one fish bag limit and 28” size limit for their coastal fisheries but still achieve a 25% reduction in harvest.

>> Lewes, Cape Henlopen Fishing Pier – CLOSED. Immediate closure is for safety reasons. As of this report, there could be a possible solution for needed repairs, stay tuned…

>> Paul Dougherty does it again with a 28”, 9.70# striper.

> .Jay Tucci, Long Neck, caught a chopper blue. This monster weighs 19.35# and measured 38.5” which also earned him a citation.

>> Jeff Craig, Collegeville, PA, nailed tog today. The largest weighing in at 6.95# and measuring 23”.

>> Fishing Report by Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, OC: Water temp is 62.8. Tautog are really biting. Sea bass fishing offshore has been especially good when the boats can go out. Stripers are picking up at the Bridges and Inlets though many of them are schoolies. Been some nice ones mixed in though, for sure. Some flounder still about, but not many. Surf's seen some snapper blues and a few stripers. Dogfish for sure.

This year’s DNREC-sponsored 28th annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup held on Sept. 20 drew 1,805 volunteers, who collected 3.2 tons of trash from 46 sites along more than 80 miles of Delaware’s waterways and coastline stretching from Wilmington to Fenwick Island. About one-third of that trash – aluminum cans and glass and plastic bottles – was recycled this year.
