>> On April 18th we will be holding a “Drum and Shark” Seminar hosted by Capt. Brian Wazlavek of Delaware Family Fishing/Lil Angler II. Classes will start at 9:00 am and last until the last question is answered! Cost is $15.00 per person, and will include coffee and snacks. Kids under 16 are no charge. Come and learn all the latest techniques from one of the experts!
>> On April 25th, Bill's Sport Shop will be holding a "Surf Fishing 101" Seminar. This will be held by C.J. Jarrell of Striper King Gear and Deep Blue Mayhem. It will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, the cost will be $15.00 each, with kids under 16 free and will include coffee and donuts! Call in advance to reserve your spot. Payment is due on the day of the class.
>> All local ponds are producing good catches of crappie, largemouth bass, pickerel and some yellow perch in Milton.
>> Flounder are reportedly being taken from Massey’s Landing.
>> We will have bloodworms (on the weekend); night crawlers, eels, grass shrimp, minnows now in stock! There is a possibility we will have clams and green crabs as well.
>> Capt. Scotty of the “Rehoboth Star” called to let us know that some tog were caught both days this weekend on ocean wrecks using clams. This time of year, clams and shrimp (softer baits) will work the best.
>> Domonic Vavala weighed in a citation perch caught at Petersfield Ditch. The fish weighed 1.15# and was 12.5” long.
>> Customer reported catching short stripers at Beach Plum Island and tog at site 10.
>> Native Plant Sale at James Farm, Sat., May 2nd - Rain Barrels on sale now!
>> Old inlet is reporting a few short stripers being caught in the IRI.
Their Annual Spring Surf Fishing Tournament will take place on Saturday May 9.
>> Lewes Harbour Marina's Canal Flounder Tournament is May 15th.
>> There will be NO changes to the flounder size and creel limits this year! It will remain at 4 fish, 16” or greater!
>> Secretary’s order has been posted online: (http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Info/Documents/Secretarys%20Order%202015-F-0010.pdf ) . In summary, effective 11 May 2015, the recreational size, seasons and possession limits will be as follows :
A person may possess two striped bass (in any combination*) from 28 to 37” or 44”or greater, except…….from April 1 through May 31 (the striped bass spawning season), none may be taken from the Nanticoke River or its tributaries and the DE River and its tributaries north of the south jetty of the C& D Canal & - from July 1 through August 31, an angler may take two striped bass from 20 to 25” (only) in the DE River, Bay and their tidal tributaries (the 28-37”; >44” does not apply).
*Example - two 29-inch striped bass
one 29-inch striped bass and one 45-inch striped bass
two 48 inch striped bass.

>> Register now for “Venture Outdoors Fest” at Lums Pond State Park BEAR
– A vast array of outdoor recreational activities are available in Delaware’s state parks in the Spring. At Lums Pond State Park, from Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17, the popular Venture Outdoors Fest will showcase them all. Registration is now open for the festival, which takes place twice each year in different state parks in order to highlight each park’s amenities.
At this year’s Venture Outdoors Fest, multiple activities will be offered, such as stand-up paddle boarding, zip-lining, horseback riding, hayrides, rock climbing and more. Participants also have the option of camping out for one or two nights free of charge.
Lunch and dinner will be provided on May 16, as well as breakfast on May 17. Adult beverage samples will be provided to those 21 and older. Live music will be offered on Friday and Saturday nights, in addition to s’mores around the campfire.
