“I want to take the time to thank the U.S. Coast Guard for their help yesterday. Especially the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter ‘Finback’. Forty miles off shore yesterday we struck something unseen in the water. The shaft actually sheared off all the bolts and separated from the transmission...we lost are gps to. We were taking on water and I called the Coast Guard. They rerouted the Coast Guard Cutter Finback and they were able to intersect and meet up with us a 1 hour and 20 minutes later with the information we were able to give then on our course home. The crew of the Finback dropped a inflatable rib and and boarded us to transfer a bigger pump over to us. They follow us on our 6 knot cruise to Indian River Inlet were the Coast Guard there meet us and follow us the rest of the way in. The Coast Guard was able to have Indian River Marina ready with the travel lift and I drove the boat right into the slings so we could be hauled out. I know everybody on the boat was glad to see you guys and we all thank you.”
