> >Joe Pastuszek, of Eddystone, Pa., used cob mullet to land a 25.60 lb striper at Herring Point.
> >Sue Foster of Oyster Bay Tackle in OC and Fenwick Island, let us know that the water temperatures have taken a dramatic drop on Sunday which should bring the big fish to our doorstep. Tautog fishing was the predominate OC fish this weekend. The surf was too rough to fish with seven foot waves crashing the beach on top of high tides. She heard of one nice striper caught on Assateague during the week. Most anglers had little luck in the surf except for some dogfish. Where are the stripers? Delaware Bay and slightly offshore in "never never" land when it's too rough to get out there! Still had a couple reports of flounder and some stripers around the Rt. 50 Bridge.
Capt. Carey Evans, "Grizzly Sportfishing", reports that tog fishing is in full swing and the first fall stripers are being caught. Trolling and chunking have been the method to catch the first stripers of the year. As the water temperatures drop into the mid 50's, striper fishing in the rips will turn on using eels, spot, and our favorite buck tails.
