>> The Division of Fish and Wildlife donated $350,000.00 to the Parks and Recreation for the improvements and repairs of the Cape Henlopen Fishing Pier which generates $700,000.00 a year in revenue. These were monies collected from the fishing licenses.
>> We have reports of big bluefish feeding around the pier this afternoon and some keeper flounder being taken.
>> Croaker are showing up off Broadkill.
>> Lots of large bass in Red Mill pond killing black Zoom worms.
>> Bluefish were all over the beach yesterday from Cape Henlopen to 3Rs Rd.
>> Rob Grodzicki caught this awesome 7.51# weakfish on peeler crab from Lewes Harbour Marina…
>> Jerry Ford's 44” striper caught at Roosevelt Inlet on a 1/2oz chartreuse bucktail with GULP curly tail minnow trailer, steel leader and 15# test drift fishing
>> Josh Franck nailed a 13.45# blue at Cape Henlopen on mullet.
>> George Chenoweth pulled in a 5.15# blue at IRI on mullet.
>> Old Inlet reported a warm water fish alert!!! This is a blue runner about 2# caught on the beach at Savages yesterday. The fish is a member of the jack family.
>> Wes Hobbs caught 3 blues to 10# at the Lewes Pier on plugs.
>> Scott Stapleford reports that there are loads of yellowfin in Poormans Canyon. Mako and two dolphin were also caught yesterday.
>> Nino Mallari and crew fished between the Norfolk and Washington Canyons trolling 12 rods when they all went down with only four people aboard to work them. Although most were lost, they managed to fill up and headed home early with 30-50# tuna and some mai mai as well.
>> Brian Elliott of Bill’s Sport Sho[p, fished with eel at IRI and had 4 stripers up to 41”.
>> A 36 1/2 " striper at IRI was caught on a Tsunami plastic by Pete Sivils.
>> Small trout reported at Broadkill in the evening on Perdue peeler.
>> Bob Warehime, Scott Schindler and Ike Megonnell caught 3 black drum to 31# on frozen clams at the Coral Beds in DE Bay.
>> Rich Seeley brought in a 16#, 37” striper on whole Mullet at Herring Point.
>> Ms Perce fished the pier and had a 16 ¾” flounder on a minnow. She had a larger one as well but got a little over anxious and the net and the fish failed to meet up..
>> The crew at Oyster Bay Tackle reports that they weighed in a number of keeper stripers caught by surfcasters fishing the Ocean city beach. Bluefish up to 36” are being caught by anglers tossing Gotcha plugs, speck rigs and spoons from the North jetty, the Route 50 bridge and from boats drifting the inlet. Colby and Ashley from Pa. fished the Route 50 bridge and caught a 31” chopper bluefish along with smaller blues and short stripers.
>> A customer, Jason, stopped in this afternoon reporting he caught several blues to 15# this morning on bucktails at the pier.
>> June 2, 2016 report from Sunset Marina in OC: “Leading up to the Mako Mania Tournament this weekend we had a couple of charters run out to investigate some good spots. “Marli” returned from the Norfolk with 9 yellowfin and 7 dolphin. “Boss Hogg” had MMA fighter Royce Gracie on the boat and he took time off from the ring to wrangle in his first white marlin! The crew also had a good haul of 4 yellowfin, 17 dolphin and a nice 180# mako. It looks like we are going to have a lot of boats fishing the tournament this weekend so if you want to see some awesome looking sharks make sure you stop in to the marina! The Norfolk Canyon was the hot spot. The fish seemed to be scattered out but we still had some nice reports back at the dock. “Reel Fantasy” caught 11 yellowfin, 11 dolphin and 1 mako, “Osprey” brought back 9 yellowfin and 4 dolphin, “Buckshot” brought in 12 yellowfin and 4 gaffer dolphin, “My Cin” caught 3 yellowfin, 4 dolphin and a mako. “Marli” had 5 dolphin and 2 yellowfin, “C-Boys” had a mix of a white marlin release, 3 yellowfin and 3 dolphin. “Boss Hogg” was able to catch 6 nice yellowfin and 5 dolphin.
>> Hunter Dilley fished next to the pier and caught the biggest blue of his young life. He got his picture taken and released the big guy.
>> A few trout are being caught at night in the 2 1/2 to 3# range.
>> Ron Capone fished the pier at Cape Henelopen using plugs and had 5 blue fish up to 13#.
>> Sounding like a broken record - the pier is the place to be for the bluefish these days. You can see the pods coming and all you have to do is cast into them with metal or top water plugs and you’re hooked up. The pier is also producing catches of flounder using minnows, squid, and Gulp.
>> Our own Captain Bill is now doing the fishing report for 105.9 and its sister stations. It will run twice daily at 6:35 and 9:35am. Tune in to hear where they are biting, what they are biting on as well as Tournament news, Events and up-to-date changes in regulations.
>> A flounder tournament is scheduled at Riverside Grill in Oak Orchard on June 16, 17 and 18. All weigh-ins are at Riverside Grill with a seafood buffet on the 18th at the end of the tournament. There is a $15.00 fee and a $10.00 Calcutta. If you need more info contact Scott love at 3028643144.
>> The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays is seeking volunteers and boats for the 12th Annual Inland Bays Cleanup from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 11. DNREC is once again lending support through the Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police, along with the Division of Parks & Recreation. .ý
