Annual Flea Market

April 2 is approaching fast. Our flea market will be held on the parking lot with one space for each angler. Bring your table or use your tailgate. It is not for dealers. Remember, one man's trash is another man's treasure. It is a good time to turn your unwanted gear into cash and to purchase fishing equipment on your wish list. Representatives from Shimano, Aqua Clear, Maws Tails, Saltwater Fly Anglers of Delaware, Eagle Claw and the DMS will be available to answer questions and demonstrate new products. Several local charter Captains will be taking reservations for upcoming trips.

We will also begin accepting registrations for Bill's Sport Shop 2011 Flounder Tournament.

> >Fishing Report by Sue Foster: "Water Temperature (WTMP): 43.5 °F°
Well, at least there's a little to write about this week! There were some skates caught from the beach in Ocean City. At least 10 keeper tautog were caught from the Ocean City area on Saturday. Capt Monty on the Morning Star has been catching tautog and cod fish. A party boat in DEL caught some nice cod fish. Freshwater and brackish water fishing has been good. Fishing regs on flounder and tautog should be out soon, hopefully next week. The unofficial word on flounder is a size reduction of one inch!"

Radford Sinking

The Radford, at a length of 563 feet, will be the longest vessel ever reefed in the Atlantic, with the sinking to take place at the Del-Jersey-Land inshore site located 26 miles southeast of the Indian River Inlet. The sinking is expected to take place in spring or summer of 2011, over the jointly-developed Del-Jersey-Land reef, which is equidistant from fishing ports in Indian River, Cape May, N.J., and Ocean City, Md. The reef is a collaborative effort of the three states cited in its name—Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland—and comprises an area of about one square mile with a depth of 120-130 feet.

The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park Closed for Beachnesting Season LEWES (March 1, 2011) The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park, including Fowler's Beach and a stretch of ocean beaches and dunes, and a half mile along the bay shoreline, is closed beginning Tuesday, March 1 for the benefit of piping plovers, oystercatchers, least terns and other threatened and endangered beachnesters and migratory shorebirds. The areas will remain closed until September or until the birds are gone. For more information, you may contact Bill Jones at 302-684-8419.

Trout Stocking

DNREC has stocked Newton Pond in Greenwood. A second stocking will be done mid March.

Newton Pond is located east of Greenwood. From Greenwood, take Route 16 east toward Ellendale approximately 2 3/4 miles and turn right on Hunters Cove Road. Cross Owens Road and continue approximately 1.1 miles. Look for the fishing area sign on the right. Access is down a long dirt lane on the right side. GPS address is approximately 13125 Hunters Cove Road, Greenwood, DE 19950.

Anglers shouldn't be surprised to find golden trout in their creels to go with the traditional rainbows as a small stocking of them was made in at least one of the ponds. stocking includes trophy-sized rainbow trout (14 inches or greater) at all locations.
