>> Mickey Bremer, Dewey Beach, used fresh bunker to haul in a 23.25#, 39” striper at the Naval Crossing.
>> Heard from Bailey Tenerovich, who went out on the ’Lil Angler II’: “ Was successful last night! Got a cooler full of drum and I hauled in the biggest of the night at 40 lbs Ill put up a fishing report today at some point, would’ve come to weigh her in at the shop but didn't get back till late. Thanks again guys, Fish on!”
>> Carlos Chavez, Millsboro, landed a 15.35#, 34 ¼” striper taken from IRI on a Storm lure.
>> Scott Donaway, Dover, DE, caught a 26.25#, 42” striper at 3 R's Rd. using bunker.
>> Gary Wasbers, Rehoboth, managed a 18 ½”, 2.30# largemouth bass caught on a minnow at Broadkill.
>> Eric Kinne, Lancaster, PA, nailed a 42”, 25.30# striper taken from IRI on a Storm lure.
>> Frank, Mike and Tom Baylor caught a bushel and a half of crabs from Gull Point on a trot line over the weekend.
>> A 38# blue fin tuna was boated east of Poormans Canyon, at 400 fathoms, by Jon Kitchen, aboard the “Liquidhandler” with Tony Burr, CC Lee and Jon Kitchen.
>> Sue Foster, Oyster Bay Tackle, reports: “Flounder fishing was very slow this week due to windy and overcast cool weather. Tautog fishing was active. Some REALLY nice stripers were caught in the surf and at Indian River Inlet. We also had a couple days of good striper fishing from the OC Inlet and the Rt. 50 Bridge. Tautog offshore along with a few bluefins and makos. Surf was up with some really nice stripers. It's very "hit or miss" in Ocean City and you just have to be there when they go by, but good anglers have been catching them. Delaware Beaches have been producing a little better and the 4-wheel drive area of Assateague has been excellent on the southern end.
>> ”Gale Force” had Dr. Tom Devanna, Pottstown, PA, onboard this evening for a Striper trip. “We prepped several different bait combos before leaving the dock but before we left Mate Jimmy Coffiey proved he really is worth his weight in gold. He said he wanted to take the large Tiger striped minnows we seined up the other day just for the heck of it. About dark he baited one of the rods with a big 6 inch minnow and Tom caught a 32 inch Striper. Nothing at the end of the north wall. H Shad were also fun.”
>> Stu Moore, Camp Hill, PA, weighed in a nice 7.10# citation tog, 21” long with a girth of 7.5”. He was fishing at the Outer Wall.
>> Buzz Wollyoung caught a nice 32” striper off Herring Point on fresh bunker.
>> Nick Dadgostar and Mansor Dadgostar caught 3 stripers, 32” to 40”, at Herring Point using fresh bunker bought at Bill’s Sport Shop.
> >FROM CAPTAIN CAREY EVANS OF “GRIZZLEY SPORT FISHING CHARTERS” OUT OF FISHERMANS WARF IN LEWES: “The big black drum have arrived and are biting. Anyone wanting a shot at these Delaware Bay bruisers should give us a call as the fishing should be good thru the first week in June. Stripers have made an excellent showing along the surf during this past week. We may start putting some effort into looking for them if folks would like. We caught the biggest striper ever aboard the Grizzly on May 22 years ago right off Cape Henlopen. That linesider was harvested by Mike Barnes and weighed 44.5 lbs. Tog fishing remains good close to home. Tog fishing will close on May 12. We will be concentrating our efforts on black drum and stripers thru May. We will also seabass fish when the season opens. With the warm water temperatures we will see some flounder by months end as well.”
